Vacation Bible School 2026!
The first day of Vacation Bible School has just wrapped up, and the kids had a blast! But if you missed it Wednesday, you are welcome to come Thursday and Friday, from 10 until noon. Just register your child when you get there. The VBS is called Emerald Crossing, and it's all about Jesus as the Good Shepherd. The scripture focus is the 23rd Psalm. The younger children had their own class. Taught by Zoie, the shepherd girl, along with her trusty sheepdog. The older kids

A Joyous New Addition to the FCC Family
On Father's Day, FCC was proud to see a baby dedication! Andy and Bailee Moore presented their new son Weston to the church. The ceremony was originally scheduled for Mother's Day, but was postponed because Grandpa was battling an illness and couldn't be there. Father's Day was just as appropriate, and four generations of Weston's family filled several pews to celebrate the occasion. A baby dedication is an informal practice in many Protestant churches, and is not required

What Happened After Jesus Ascended?
The adult Sunday School class at First Christian Church has been such a blessing lately. We spent the first few months of this year learning about the Protestant Reformation and the many churches it spawned. Now we are going back to the early church, as it exploded from a group that followed Jesus during his earthly life to major evangelism unto the ends of the earth. In other words, we are taking a deep dive into the book of the Acts of the Apostles. John Gill officially ste

Congratulations to Our 2026 Graduates!
May marks the end of the school year, and for some, the end of school as they know it. As one phase of life ends, another always begins. The FCC family has a bumper crop of young people taking a step from one school into another or into a career in the wider world. Three young ladies graduated from Corbin High School on Sunday, May 17th. Two others received graduate degrees from the University of the Cumberlands on May first. Yes, we are proud of all of them. Together we cele

Rummage Sale Preview
The spring rummage sale at FCC is this Friday and Saturday, 9AM to 4 PM each day. I thought I'd be proactive and take a few pictures of the rummage sale items Wednesday morning to show you what's available. I knew that would be incomplete, because more stuff comes in every day. Boy, that's the truth! By the time Wednesday night Bible study rolled around, there was a lot more, but I didn't have my camera with me. There are a ton of dishes, as always, and clothing of all kinds.

When Bad Weather Interferes with Church Services
Every once in a while, winter storms or bad road conditions force us to cancel Sunday morning services. We almost made it through January, but a storm forecast for Saturday and Sunday has caused us to cancel services on January 25th. That sure beats January of last year, when three out of four Sundays were canceled! We love to get to together to worship God, but sometimes it may be dangerous for people to get to the church. When this happens, we communicate the decision throu

The Annual FCC Christmas Bazaar is Coming!
Do you remember what year the first FCC Christmas bazaar was held? No one seems to know for sure, but it's been such a long time that it has become a Corbin tradition. Always on the first Saturday in December, it includes a craft fair, luncheon, and prizes! Proceeds go to funding church activities for the next year. If you have handmade crafts to sell, contact the church office as soon as possible to reserve a table. Doors will open at 9AM, and the luncheon runs from 11 until

Don't Miss the FCC Fall Festival!
Don't you just love autumn? There's so many ways to enjoy it! One of them is our annual Fall Festival. This year's festivities will take place Wednesday evening, October 29th, beginning at 5:30 PM. Bring the kids in costume so they can visit decorated cars in our parking lot for trunk-or-treat, and collect candy from each of them! Afterward, they will enjoy a top-your-own hotdog bar with chips and drinks in our picnic area, and then proceed to the cupcake walk for dessert! Th

Rummage Sale Time at FCC!
The next rummage sale at FCC has been postponed from October to November. It will be held on Friday November 7 and Saturday November 8th from 9AM to 4PM each day. That gives us plenty of time to assemble a great variety of things to sell! A rummage sale benefits everyone in several ways. 1. It's a chance to get rid of stuff around the house you don't need anymore, without the guilt of wastefulness or adding to a landfill. It will make your home feel bigger and lighter! 2. I

Sprucing Up for Homecoming
Power washing the marquee. Every Homecoming service involves preparations, from planning the service to inviting friends to organizing a feast. This year, however, we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of our church building at First and Kentucky Streets. Therefore, we want the building itself to look its best. The first order of events was the 99-year-old pipe organ, which quit working almost a year ago. A massive fundraising and repair project has been going on ever sinc

You're Invited to Vacation Bible School!
As you can see, the Baker family has been busy preparing this year's Vacation Bible School set up. VBS will meet on Friday, August first from 5-8 PM, and then Saturday, August 2 from 9AM until 12:30. There will be two classes, for kindergarten through grade 2, and for grades 3-5, although older and younger children are welco
