The Life of Joyce Fox

Mrs. Joyce Ann Fox, 84, of Corbin, passed away Thursday morning, February 12, 2026 at Baptist Health Corbin. She was born October 10, 1941 in Harlan, the daughter of the late Omer and Lydia Parrett Grant.


Joyce was a former elementary schoolteacher who dedicated her life to nurturing and guiding young minds. A devoted member of the First Christian Church of Corbin, she lived her faith through service and compassion. Joyce was also a proud member of Alpha Delta Kappa, reflecting her lifelong commitment to education and fellowship among educators. She was especially blessed to help establish Samaritan’s Purse’s Operation Christmas Child in Southeastern Kentucky, bringing joy and the hope of Jesus to countless children around the world. Her legacy of faith, service and dedication to others will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.


On December 21, 1961, she united in marriage with Philipp Fox Jr., who preceded her in death.


In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Dale Grant Fox and a sister, Bettye Mildred Moody.


Survivors include her loving children, Philipp B. Fox and wife, Paula, of Louisville and Marcus A. Fox and wife, Lori, of Fleming Island, FL; cherished grandchildren, Philipp Alan Fox and wife, Samantha, Sarah Fox, Emma Fox, Ashley Godbey and husband, Donnie, Maya Fouts and husband, Jacob and Matthew Fox; great grandchildren, Adam and Luke Fox, Joyceann, June and Vera Fouts and Donnie Godbey Jr.; together with many cherished loved ones and faithful friends who will miss her deeply.


Following a private burial in the Barbourville Cemetery, a memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church of Corbin, Monday, March 16 at 4 P.M. with Dr. Robert Tibbs and Rev. Ronnie Mitchell officiating.


Friends may visit at the church Monday, March 16 after 2 P.M. until the time of service.

We at FCC cherish our memories of Joyce, who was a dedicated servant of the Lord and a member of the church for 40 years. We all have stories to tell of Joyce's faith, advice, helping hands, and friendship. We remember her words of love the last time she stood in church to address the congregation.
