A Report on the FCC Website for Its First Anniversary
Ruth asked me if I'd ordered anything from Wix. No, I hadn't, but it had come up on the church's credit card bill. Rick asked what Wix is. Oh, that's our web hosting service. If we are getting a bill from them, it means that a year has gone by since we launched our new website! The project to build this website came about when I learned that First Christian Church actually had a website that nobody went to, because nobody promoted it. It was hosted on a European platform that

What Happened After Jesus Ascended?
The adult Sunday School class at First Christian Church has been such a blessing lately. We spent the first few months of this year learning about the Protestant Reformation and the many churches it spawned. Now we are going back to the early church, as it exploded from a group that followed Jesus during his earthly life to major evangelism unto the ends of the earth. In other words, we are taking a deep dive into the book of the Acts of the Apostles. John Gill officially ste

June 2026 at FCC
With school out and people traveling, June is the quietest time of the year at FCC. Wednesday night Bible study and Faith Quest are on hiatus until August. It's a good time for reflection and planning for the rest of the year. One of the things we are working on is a revamp of our youth programs, which we are all excited about -more details to come. We have also decided to purchase a new, digital sign to replace the marquee. A vendor and price have yet to be determined, but w

Congratulations to Our 2026 Graduates!
May marks the end of the school year, and for some, the end of school as they know it. As one phase of life ends, another always begins. The FCC family has a bumper crop of young people taking a step from one school into another or into a career in the wider world. Three young ladies graduated from Corbin High School on Sunday, May 17th. Two others received graduate degrees from the University of the Cumberlands on May first. Yes, we are proud of all of them. Together we cele

On Mother's Day
Beloved, as we celebrate Mother's Day this month, I want to share with you a wonderful poem I came across several years ago entitled The Meanest Mother by Bobbie Pingaro. This so serves as a step back into time as I reflect on how my home was run as well by my mother as well. The following is that wonderful article. The Meanest Mother I had the meanest mother in the whole world. While other kids ate candy for breakfast, I had to have cereal, eggs or toast. When others had cok
