Welcome Back, Debbie Tibbs!
Praise the Lord! After more than five months, our beloved pastor's wife Debbie Tibbs has returned. It was back in January that she received a knee replacement. The recovery went so poorly that it had to be replaced again, and she underwent three more surgeries to repair it. After that experience, it took a while to heal, and then lots of physical therapy to regain enough strength and balance to walk, negotiate a ramp, and get in and out of a car. While she used a wheelchair f

Holy Cow...Did That Really Happen?
This memory popped up from six years ago on my Facebook today, bringing a flood of memories. I have worked for First Christian Church for 27 years. I have seen so many things, dealt with so many situations that were far beyond what I ever suspected I would have as a church secretary. Pretty certain this wasn't in the job description... lol. This building has been flooded so many times, with me calling the fire department to come to my rescue to pump 5,000 gallons a minute ou

The biggest event happening at FCC this month is Vacation Bible School, and underneath the surface, we are also gearing up for some exciting things for the rest of the year. We are in the beginning stages of raising funds for a new church sign. Our entire youth program is undergoing a revamp, and we will unveil the plans as soon as they are set, or at least before school starts. We are looking forward to Deb Tibbs' return to church events, although we don't know when that wil

A Joyous New Addition to the FCC Family
On Father's Day, FCC was proud to see a baby dedication! Andy and Bailee Moore presented their new son Weston to the church. The ceremony was originally scheduled for Mother's Day, but was postponed because Grandpa was battling an illness and couldn't be there. Father's Day was just as appropriate, and four generations of Weston's family filled several pews to celebrate the occasion. A baby dedication is an informal practice in many Protestant churches, and is not required

Pastor Tibbs' Father's Day sermon for June 21st is titled The Pastor of the Home. The relevant scripture is Ephesians 5: 23-28. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. 24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify an

A Place for Pastors
FCC Pastor Tibbs has been taking his vacation the past three weeks to help Deb settle into home after her long journey recovering from knee replacement. He expects to be back in the pulpit this Sunday. Meanwhile, we were treated to two sermons from Associate Pastor Ron Mitchell and a message on the Lord's Prayer from Pastor Emeritus John Gill. Aren't we blessed to have such talented and faithful men? John Gill was the pastor at FCC from 2001-2004. Ron Mitchell led the church
