Why You Should Donate to the FCC Rummage Sale

The FCC fall rummage sale will be Friday and Saturday, October 9th and 10th, beginning at 9AM both days. It's a great way to find bargains on all kinds of household goods, clothing, toys, books, autumn and Christmas decorations, tools, sporting goods, furniture, house plants, and some real surprises. Tell everyone you know about the sale! But we have to prepare. There are a lot of things around your house you don't need anymore, but someone else could. Think of it as recycling for a cause. Think of how much easier it would be to clean your home without those extra things. Then load it up and bring it to the FCC fellowship hall! Don't wait until the last minute, because we will be working the week before to set everything up. Here are some reasons you should donate your stuff:

* You kept your first set of dishes and cooking pans long after you upgraded because you thought your children might need them when they moved out. But they were forgotten, and your kids now have their own dishes they like better.

* Every year, you have to decide which Christmas decorations to put up and which to save for another year because there's too many of them.

* You have that one dress in your closet that you keep handy in case there's a black tie event, but that never happened, and now you can't wear it anyway because high heels hurt your feet.

* Your grandfather collected knives, but all you need is one to remember him by. You don't need dozens of them.

* Your Roomba is having trouble navigating around all the furniture you don't use.

* Your kids wanted to store some things at your house "for a little while," but it's been ten years now, and you'd like to use those closets again.

* One time you had this great idea to change the wreath on your front door every month, but you always forget and now you have 14 wreathes in your spare bedroom.

* Even nested, your Tupperware takes up more shelf space than your refrigerator will hold.

* Grandma left you enough Christmas dishes to serve a party of twenty, but you go to someone else's home for Christmas dinner. Or you'd honestly rather use your own favorite china. Besides, you're the only one left who knew Grandma.

* No one needs five cutting boards.

* No one needs two ironing boards.

* If you haven't used it in three years, you don't need it.

* Those clothes you kept in case you ever got back down to a size eight? You might accomplish that someday, but when you do, you'll want to reward yourself with new clothes.

* If you get rid of one thing you don't need out of every drawer or shelf, it will feel so good you decide to get rid of two things, and before you know it, you have a completely emptied drawer or shelf to use.

* You remember what a chore it was to dispose of a relative's possessions, and you swore you wouldn't put your children through that.

* One less thing to dust! Two less things to dust!

Who knows? You might get rid of so many things, you'll want to pick up some bargains on new (to you) things at the rummage sale! Besides, the money raised goes to a good cause, and we have a lot of fun just hanging around and meeting people at the sale. When it's all said and done, you'll feel much better about yourself.
