August first and second bring us Vacation Bible School! Waves of Wonder will be this Friday evening from 5 to 8, and then Saturday morning from 9 until 1. Each session will include Bible lessons, music, games, crafts, and a meal. You can register your children online here.
August 3- elders meeting after church. We will begin service signups for the calendar year that begins in October.
August 4 (Monday) Rick Strunk is beginning the project to build a guardrail on the upper floor that will allow people to safely see the organ pipes. Volunteers are needed! Contact Rick about when to come and what to bring.
August 7-8-9 is the annual NIBROC Festival. Our parking lot will be open for use by festival attendees, and we need volunteers to be there to accept donations. There is a signup sheet/schedule in the narthex. Money raised will support our youth programs.
August 10 we will have a potluck dinner in the fellowship hall after church. Check the list in the narthex to see what kind of dishes we still need, or you can surprise us! Monetary donations will go to the food card program, as we are very low on funds.
August 10 is also the day we get the ding-a-lings back together! Tryouts and orientation for the FCC bell choir will be at 4PM. Afterward, practice will be every Sunday evening.
August 17- board meeting after church. Nominations will be taken for elders, deacons, and new church officers. Be thinking about who to nominate, or how you could serve in the next year. These positions will be confirmed at the September meeting.
August TBA- We will need a work day to strip the carpets on the stairs, and a few other jobs. Get i touch with Rick if you can help out.
Looking forward to September:
September 5th (Friday) is the day for the youth lock-in, to kick start the year's Faith Quest program. See Hilary for more details.
September 7- elders meeting.
September 8-9-10, new carpet will be installed in the two staircases between the lower and main floors. We hope to have the old carpet removed by then, as that will save us some money.
September 10 (Wednesday) will begin regular Faith Quest meetings for the year. Dinner will be at 5:30, and Faith Quest lasts until 7. Pastor Tibbs will also begin our regular Wednesday night Bible Study at 6. Adults are welcome to come early for dinner; bring a donation for the youth programs if you can. We also need volunteers to make dinner.
September 14- board meeting. Church officers for the next year will be elected. Nominations for any new elders and deacons will be confirmed, to be voted on by the entire congregation at a later date.
September 28 is our Homecoming Celebration! Be sure to invite anyone you know for breakfast donuts, tours, museum exhibits, a special worship service, and dinner afterward.
This list may be updated as needed.
