Happy New Year! As we hang our new calendars and make our resolutions, let's keep in mind what we can do in 2026 to show our love for our Father in heaven and His son Jesus Christ. We can dedicate ourselves to learning more about His word; carrying out Jesus' commands to spread the Gospel and help those in need; and strengthening our faith with prayer, study, and worship.

Be aware of winter weather. If there is snow, ice, or a dire forecast, check our Facebook group to see if services are canceled before you start out. Paula will also send a group text about cancellations- if you want to be on her list, call the office (528-1655). And if you know someone who doesn't use Facebook or texting, make a point to call and alert them when plans change.

Elders on duty for January will be Lee Ann Strunk and Elaine Wilson. Deacons will be Jerry Blankenship, Doris Moore, and Ben and Roseanne Morris.

Sunday School for the month of January will be led by John Gibbs and Betty Gibbs.

Pastor Tibbs will be on vacation through the 14th. Paula Rapier will be on vacation January 16th through the 26th.

January 4th is Epiphany Sunday, and we will have an Elder's meeting.

Wednesday, January 7 will be a work day to take down the Christmas decorations, starting at 10AM.

Faith Quest starts up for the year on Wednesday, January 7th. There will be no meal that night, nor on the 14th or 21st. Volunteers are needed to provide Wednesday night meals after that. Check with Hilary for the calendar.

January 11th: Ronnie Mitchell will deliver the sermon. There will also be a board meeting.

On Sunday, January 18th, weekly bell choir practice will begin at 4PM. New ding-a-lings are welcome. At 5PM, there will be a workshop for the junior bell choir! You don't have to know how to play bells already, you just need the desire to learn.

Sunday, January 25th, Pastor Tibbs will begin a new series of sermons he calls Shadows of Christ, subtitled "Discover Christ in the Old Testament, and the promises fulfilled in Him." It sounds like prophesy. The series will continue for the next seven weeks.

Looking ahead to February:

Wednesday night Bible study will resume on February 4th. Pastor Tibbs will continue our study of the book of Romans, now in chapter 6. Wednesday nights meals resume at 5:30; donations for the youth programs will be accepted.

Our annual Souper Bowl Sunday will be after services on Sunday, February 8th. Sure, it might have something to do with a football game, but we usually manage to incorporate Valentine's Day into it as well. Souper Bowl is a dinner presented by our church youth featuring several kinds of soup (of course) and other goodies. Donations will go to our youth programs.

February 28th is Ash Wednesday, when we have our special service to confer ashes and begin the season of Lent.
