The entire month of March is part of the season of Lent this year, a time of preparation as we look forward to celebrating the resurrection of our Lord on Easter Sunday.

It's time to order flowers for Easter! Potted flowers can be purchased for $12 each, and will be used to decorate the sanctuary for Easter Sunday. You can designate that the flowers are in memory of or in honor of someone, and those names will be listed in the Easter service program. Get your orders in early!

Last year on Palm Sunday, we distributed $20 bills to the congregation as "seed money" to invest as in the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30). Those who took money are expected to bring the fruits of their investment back this Palm Sunday. The money will go into a fund for organ repair and maintenance.

1. Sunday, March 1st, we will have an elders meeting after worship service.

8. Sunday, March 8th is when Daylight Saving Time begins. Be sure to set your clocks forward one hour before you go to bed Saturday night, so you won't be late for church. We will have a board meeting after services.

16. Joyce Fox's memorial service will be on Monday, March 16th at the church. Visitation begins at 2 PM, and the service will be at 4 PM.

22. March 22nd (Sunday) is the the deadline for ordering Easter flowers for the sanctuary.

29. Sunday, March 29th is Palm Sunday, the day we commemorate Jesus' triumphal entry into the city of Jerusalem ahead of the Passover celebration. Please brings the proceeds from your investment last year. We will also give out new seed money if you wish to participate this year.

30. During Holy Week, March 30 through April 3rd, various Corbin churches cooperate to offer a series of midday services at noon each weekday, with lunch offered at 11:30. These are open to everyone! This year's schedule will be posted here as soon as it becomes available.

Looking ahead to April:

3. April 3rd is Maundy Thursday, a day to commemorate the Last Supper when Jesus washed his disciple's feet and had them share bread and wine in His remembrance. The Maundy Thursday service at FCC begins at 6 and will include an optional foot washing ceremony for those who wish to participate. A light supper will be served at 5.

5. Easter Sunday, also called Resurrection Day, is April 5th. At FCC, this begins with a sunrise service at 8:30 in the Fox Pavilion (weather permitting). That will be followed by a community breakfast in the fellowship hall. A special Easter worship service celebrating the triumph and joy of our Savior's resurrection will begin at 10:30.
