August is often the hottest month of the year, but it also signals the end of summer and a shift back into regular life for a lot of people. This month brings us the NIBROC Festival and the beginning of the school year. We've had a lot of folks out of church each week this summer due to vacations, family reunions, and unfortunately some illnesses. We hope to see them all back, and welcome new friends, too!

Elders for the month of August are Bertha Prewitt and Gail Baker. Deacons are John and Hilary Baker, Betty Gill, and Caroline Mahan.

Sunday, August 2, we will have an elder's meeting. In addition to regular church business, we are considering candidates for new elders and deacons.

The 74th annual NIBROC Festival is scheduled for Wednesday, August 5th to Saturday, August 8th. While many downtown businesses and organizations charge a fee for parking, FCC offers free parking. However, we do accept donations, and many folks are grateful enough to find a parking spot that they are glad to give something. We need volunteers to be there for a two-hour shift (or more) on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (August 6-8). We have a signup sheet in the church narthex to cover the shifts. Sign up with a friend and spend the time catching up! Proceeds will go to our youth programs.

Sunday, August 16th is the date for the monthly board meeting. This is a change, since so many board members will be gone on the 9th.

Monday, August 17th is Alta Faye Bonza's 99th birthday! Send her a birthday card.

Corbin Schools will begin the new year on Monday, August 24th.

Sunday, August 30th, Rev. Ronnie Mitchell will bring the message. Then there will be a potluck dinner after worship service. This is the kickoff for our fundraising campaign for the new church sign, so donations and pledges will be taken.

Faith Quest will begin the year on Wednesday, September 2 at 6PM. All school age children are invited!

Wednesday Bible study class are on hiatus until further notice.
