He is risen! April brings us Easter, the holiest of all holidays, to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord. April is also the first full month of spring, time for gardening, housecleaning, and a time for gathering everything you no longer need for the spring rummage sale, planned for the first weekend in May.

Elders for April will be Elaine Wilson and Bertha Prewitt. Deacons will be John Crawford, Patty Crawford, Doris Moore, and Zoie Burke.

During Holy Week, there will be community-wide services at a different church every day at 11:30 AM. The remaining schedule for this year is as follows:

Tuesday, March 31: West Corbin Christian Church, 1125 Gordon Hill Pike

Wednesday, April 1: Corbin Church of the Nazarene, 409 Master St

Thursday, April 2: Grace on the Hill, 1632 Cumberland Falls Hwy

Friday, April 3: First Baptist Church, 401 N. Laurel Avenue

There will be no Faith Quest on April first because of Spring Break.

April 2nd is Maundy Thursday, a day to commemorate the Last Supper when Jesus washed his disciple's feet and had them share bread and wine in His remembrance. The Maundy Thursday service at FCC begins at 6 and will include an optional foot washing ceremony for those who wish to participate. Join us for a light supper of soup and sandwiches at 5.

Easter Sunday, also called Resurrection Day, is April 5th. At FCC, this begins with a sunrise service at 8 AM in the Fox Pavilion, or inside if it rains. That will be followed by a community breakfast in the fellowship hall and Sunday school at 9:30. A special Easter worship service celebrating the triumph and joy of our Savior's resurrection will begin at 10:30.

After Easter, you can start bringing in donated items for the spring rummage sale. Leave them on the stage in the fellowship hall.

April 12th will be the day for the elders meeting.

April 19th will be the day for the board meeting.

The last week of April, we will need volunteers to set up the rummage sale. Dates to be announced.

Looking ahead to May:

The spring rummage sale will be on May first and second. Proceeds will go to various projects to help those in the congregation with special needs. Yes, there will be tomato and pepper plants for sale.
