We have spent the month of October with our emphasis being the fifteenth chapter of I Corinthians. Within this text we find the most comprehensive teaching in all the Bible concerning the resurrection. As we prepare for our All Saints Service next week, it is important to realize the promise of our resurrection that we have in and through the work of our Lord on that first Easter morning!

For in the message before that empty tomb, we find the most emphatic event (with its dual documentation) in all of history. It is an event that proclaims that in the same way that Jesus had victory over death, so can and will His children.

For at that funeral service for Lazarus, as our Lord performed the victory over death in the life for his dear friend, He both verbally and through a miracle vividly proclaimed the promise to every man, woman, and young person who lives and believes in Him. That promise is that He is the source of the resurrection and He is the source of both physical and spiritual life for every person who lives for Him and has placed their faith in Him. He is our victory over the grave. Because of that, as Paul told the church at Thessalonica, we do not grieve as those who do not have this promise of the empty grave. For Jesus is the first fruit of the rest of our great God's resurrection harvest!
