Why does a church need a website?

This question came up as I was talking about building this site. FCC already has a Facebook group and a YouTube channel, but a dedicated website is different. It is a repository of basic information in one place that people can easily access. The social media sites are dynamic, with older information becoming buried as new items come in. Facebook is wonderful for communication among people, news updates, and prayer requests. YouTube is a gallery of videos, great for storing sermons. However, when we have all three, we can direct people from one site to another according to their need. Notice there are social media icons at the top and bottom of the site, plus links in the Contact section. If someone bookmarks this website, they will be able to find everything else.
Imagine a family has newly moved to Corbin, and is looking for a church. A Google search will pull up a list of church websites. Clicking on any of those websites will give them an idea of what kind of church it is, where it is, whether they can fill the family's needs and desires, and how to contact that church. Social media sites won't come up in a search unless a specific church name is expressed in the search terms.
The same situation applies for people who give themselves to the Lord while away from home or in some place that is not a church, or for someone who wants to learn about Christianity. Or anyone who is looking for a home church. We will be here to welcome them, but they have to hear about us first!

I love the new website. Very informative and eye catching.
